Behind the Door of Mind, What Will You Find?Preoccupy: to take up residence in a space that was previously empty but is now filled.  Dictionary says: dominate or engross the mind to the exclusion of other thoughts.

Imagine this: you arrive at your destination and go to check into your hotel room only to find it’s already occupied.  What would you do? Challenge the desk clerk? Demand the occupant vacates?

Now imagine arriving at the doorway to your mind. You unlock the door with anticipation of all the wonderful things that may be inside. The door slowly swings open and you get a whiff of air across your face. It’s stale, musty, dusty but oddly familiar.  Inside you see piles and piles of past thoughts stacked up to the ceiling. Other thoughts are scattered on the floor like litter dispersed by the wind.  You step in, pull up a chair and start looking through all the past thoughts – recalling their origin, the circumstances of their creation. You notice how familiar they are to you. Some are sweet. Some are sour. And all are from the past. Leaving no room for today’s thoughts.
